It’s a common cliché to say that when women re-connect to their sensuality they awaken more of themselves. And vice versa, when they re-connect to themselves, they awaken more of their sensuality.
This is embodiment. Becoming alive and attuned to the inner language, longings, and landscape of the body. And the way to self-empowerment (and therefore self-advocacy and self-leadership) is to know more of ourselves, not less.
But as Audre Lorde wrote, “we have been raised to fear the yes within ourselves, our deepest cravings.” Let that land. How much of your “yes” have you been taught to fear, to repress, to deny? What “deepest cravings” are you rejecting?
I have worked with so many women who deeply desire to reconnect to their “deepest cravings”. They’ve become so disconnected that they aren’t sure what they want anymore – in all aspects of life, from how they want to be touched by themselves or a lover, to how they want to arrange the furniture.
Carter Heyward wrote, “As we come to experience the erotic as sacred, we begin to know ourselves as holy and to imagine ourselves sharing in the creation of one another and of our common well-being. As we recognise the faces of the Holy in the faces of our lovers and friends, as well as in our own, we begin to feel at ease in our bodyselves – sensual, connected, and empowered.”
I love that quote, and it reminds me of the yogic saying “Namaste”, the light in me sees the light in you. When we see each other as sensual divine beings, we see ourselves as one, too. It is a permission slip for the fullness of our feminine expression.
My UK summer retreat, WILD HONEY, is ALL about this. Coming to experience the erotic as sacred. Revering ourselves as the holy feminine. Feeling at ease in our deepest cravings, desires, and bodyselves, and in our empowerment. Gathering in a sensual sisterhood of divine mirrors and reflections.
For four days and three nights (31st May – 3rd June) we’ll retreat into the English countryside to devote ourselves to the sensual feminine and her delights.
You can save your space in the Harem Room (8 person luxury dorm) for £777 (rising to £999) or in a Sister Room (2 person twin) for £999 (rising to £1111).
Early Bird expires at 6pm UK on Monday 29th February.
